Anyone Have Some Boots I Could Borrow?
I spent the morning gingerly picking my way through a minefield of guk. The mess was everywhere. It was unavoidable. It was gross. Then the family and I came home from the pumpkin patch and I logged on to find the exact same type of mess waiting for me online. I'll say one thing for Google...they sure manage to keep folks talking about them. ...full article

9 Common Mistakes in Landing Page and PPC Campaign Design
For all the cash that Google makes off Adwords, they certainly aren't putting a lot of it back into educating people on how to create a successful PPC campaign. While some industries are very advanced, whenever I wander into something a little off the beaten path, as I have this last month with small niche attorneys, I'm shocked how much money people are wasting with a terrible landing page and PPC campaign. By no means am I a landing page expert, but seeing how bad some of the sites out there are, you needn't be to provide 9 solid landing page and PPC campaign tips. ...full article

When Link Building Is Pointless
As a link builder and content publicist, I rarely see a link building challenge that cannot be overcome. Today there are many unique and legitimate ways to attract and generate links that didn't exist ten years ago. There are different styles and approaches to link building, all of which can be effective. And there is no single approach that will be 100% effective, 100% of the time. Link building is more exciting than ever, and this November, as I enter my 15th year in this field, I can say with certainty that link building is as much art as it has become science, and sometimes the science gets in the way. ...full article

Google Clarifies its Stance on Hidden Text
A few weeks ago, Adam Lasnik posted in the Google Groups that the Google Webmaster Central team is seeking to answer popular frequently asked questions. The criteria: the questions should not deal with specific sites, they should be of interest to a wide range of webmasters, and they are not already addressed in a recent blog post or in the help center. There's a great number of questions so far, and Wysz has taken the initiative to answer one of the questions all about hidden text. ...full article

Official: Selling Paid Links Can Hurt Your PageRank Or Rankings On Google
More and more, I've been seeing people wondering if they've lost traffic on Google because they were detected to be selling paid links. However, Google's generally never penalized sites for link selling. If spotted, in most cases all Google would do is prevent links from a site or pages in a site from passing PageRank. Now that's changing. If you sell links, Google might indeed penalize your site plus drop the PageRank score that shows for it. ...full article

A Comprehensive Guide to Hidden Text & Search Engines
Hidden Text is one of the challenges faced by webmasters and search engines. Spammers continue to use hidden text to stuff keywords into their pages for purposes of artificially boosting their rankings. Search engines seek to figure out when spammers are doing this, and then then take appropriate action. For the average every day webmaster, one challenge is that there are many ways to create hidden text unintentionally, and no one wants to be penalized for something they did not intend to do. ...full article

Optimizing A Paid Search Campaign
Pay-per-click (PPC) remains a leading online marketing strategy despite ever-increasing competition and rising click costs. Why? Paid search works extremely well when you've established an accurate estimate of your cost per acquisition (CPA) and return on investment (ROI). To get optimal results from your paid search campaign, you need to consider a number of different factors, carefully weighing the pros and cons of spending time and money on each, with the result being a carefully crafted campaign that maximizes results. Here are some important factors to consider in this process: ...full article
